producer.fund
A new film fund to produce five independent feature film projects in the next two years
Producer fund I
producer.fund seeks to produce films that change people for the better - the audience, the crew, and the film industry at large.Fund I is a $10M fund to produce 10 feature film projects over the next 3-4 years, led by Daren Smith, founder of Craftsman Films. We're working with writer-directors, and small creative teams that work efficiently and have a track record of producing outsized results. The films will be produced in tax-advantaged states or countries. Theatrical distribution is already in place for the five projects. If you value being early to new opportunities, we've got a seat at the table for you.
how it works
We are targeting a $10m fund. We have over $1m of early interest from initial investors. We are starting our formal raise from accredited angel investors, family offices, and funds-of-funds.
INVESTMENT THESISThe film industry is broken. In 2023 we experienced the first "dual strike" in Hollywood in over 60 years. The writers and actors wanted a better deal, and were willing to go months without working to show the studios how important their demands were. The reason: the studios took too much. There's an opportunity to create a better film industry for creators to work in. To make more by taking less.Instead of the studio model, we use our leverage to create better working conditions, more profitable projects, and give equity to the hundreds of artists that work on each of our films. We are making films that change people for good: telling stories that inspire change in the audience, create a better livelihood for the crew, and that show the industry that there's a better, more fair and equitable, way.
